We had an exciting end to 2016 and are looking forward to slowing down in 2017. Looking back at my personal goals for 2016 I met some of them and some of them are getting added to the 2017 goal list.

Here was my list from 2016…

  • Read 3 Books(I’ve managed to read one in the last 15 months) SUCCESS!!
  • Hang pictures on our walls SUCCESS! (Even on our new house!)
  • Work at becoming fitter. I’ve gotten back into crossfit, but I need to put more motivation and effort into it. SUCCESS, even while pregnant!
  • Make my 2014 and 2015 family album books. Adding it to 2017!
  • Start my own photography business. Hopefully I’ll have more on this soon! Success, but I now I need to re-vamp because we’ve moved.

2017 Goals-

  • Continue with my fitness and wellness journey.
  • Print personal pictures to hang around the house.
  • Make family photo albums.

Welcome to the Family: Matthew James

Matthew Birth-38

On December 12th, 2016 at 9:24 AM we welcomed Matthew James to our family. Addy calls him “Bubba”, we’ll see if it sticks. He’s named after Taylor and his brother. Matthew is Taylor’s brothers middle name and James is his middle name.  He arrived 2 weeks early and in all honesty we were not prepared for his arrival yet! Oops! He weighed a healthy 8 pounds 6 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. From going into labor, the actual delivery and the hospital setting his arrival and birth were completely different experiences than the birth of our daughter Addy.

For a few days prior to his arrival I had been having weird pregnancy dreams and just felt blah, but went along with our normal activities. On Sunday evening, I sat down to paint my toe nails and felt like I had peed my pants when actually my water broke. It took me a bit of time to realize that I just didn’t have a little “accident” because I was in denial that he was coming two weeks early(especially since I was preparing for him to be over due like his sister.)

Our initial thoughts went to what are we going to do with Addy. My parents were planning on being here the following week, but not this early! My parents quickly got a phone call that they needed to head south sooner and thankfully, Taylor’s brother Ryan moved last spring to Houston and was an hour and a half a way to help. He headed our direction, we packed bags for the hospital, and one of our friends here helped watched Addy until Uncle Ryan arrived. Uncle Ryan stayed two nights with Addy and my parents drove down to Texas in one day from Chicago to help out. We love our family and friends!

I labored through the night again(ugh, it’s rough!) and Matthew arrived Monday morning. The labor was physically very different than Addy and my epidural did not fully work, but I surprisingly felt way better afterwards than with Addy.

On Tuesday, my parents came and met Matthew. We decided that we were tired of being interrupted and ready to get home so checked ourselves out of the hospital early!

Going Home!

We’re enjoying being a family of four and adjusting to a lack of sleep! 🙂 Nana and Grumpy have been helping out a lot around the house and entertaining Addy. Sorry for not updating the blog lately, but the month of December was crazy! Addy and I participated in our 25 days of Christmas that I had all intentions of sharing weekly, but it looks like it will be an all in one post of our fun in the next few weeks! Plus, I have Addy’s two year pictures to share, Matthew’s newborn photos, and our recent family photos so stay tuned(and be patient!)

Our Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

We enjoyed a quiet day celebrating just the three of us which was much different than the house full of family we had last year. Of course, we cooked way too much food, but it was all delicious.

Addy helped with some Thanksgiving prep and cooking. She loved watching the Macy’s parade and of course eating pumpkin pie!

She’s a great pie crust helper!

Way too much food! We had biscuits, cranberries, broccoli, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, and a turkey that we smoked on our new smoker.

Someone could not wait to dig in!

Halloween Fun

We celebrated Halloween all month long around our house. Addy loved everything pumpkin and Halloween related. This month we did new crafts, visited a pumpkin patch, carved pumpkins enjoyed fall treats and went trick or treating. All and all it was a fun month of celebrations! Enjoy the picture share!

Our little Bumble Bee loved Trick or Treating. She would buzz(run) from house to house. Addy trick or treated with one of her friends and they had so much fun! Grandma made her dress and trick or treat bag which were adorable!

Exciting Updates!

My apologizes for severely slacking on the blog for the past 6 or so months. I’m hoping to get back into a swing of things and make blogging a more regular thing. My goal is two family blog posts at least a month, so stay tuned!

Lots has been going on that has kept me distracted and pulled away from sharing our adventures over the past year. Our first really exciting news is that we are expecting a new addition to our family this December! Baby Boy will be arriving around Christmas and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Once again I had terrible morning sickness which was not fun to deal with, but thankfully that has passed. My mom has been nagging(yes, you have mother) for belly shots like with Addy so I’ll hopefully be sharing some of those soon.

In other news, we moved three weeks ago. Taylor’s been put on a new project for the next 2.5-3 years in Beaumont, TX. We sold our previous home quickly and purchased a new one in Beaumont and are working on getting settled and organized before Baby Boy arrives. It’s been an adjustment, because the area is a bit different than our previous area and our house is a bit smaller, but were working on it. Thankfully, Taylor’s parents came to help during the move and our key leaving spaces are mostly unpacked. We even have a picture hung on the wall! It took 9 months in our previous house so we are way farther ahead in Taylor’s eyes! My goal is by Thanksgiving to be all set and comfortable in our new house.

Addy and I spent the summer traveling north to escape the Texas heat. I’ll share some of our activities in the upcoming weeks. Plus, Addy updates!

Thanks for reading!
