We had an exciting adventure this past weekend camping at Enchanted Rock. Addy absolutely loved it, she’s totally a nature girl. Uncle Ryan even came and camped with us!
Enchanted Rock is about an hour or so west of of Austin. Taylor took Friday off of work and we headed west. In total our drive was about 4.5 hours. The campground designed a bit differently than we were used to, but it was fun(and super busy!) We brought our stuff in to the our site by crossing a little creek and walking down a path.
After unpacking we played at the playground for a bit and explored another creek.
After playing Uncle Ryan made it to our camp site and we help him set up and then bought firewood and started our campfire. Addy loved watching the fire.
We had a very earlier riser on Saturday. Addy was a 4:30 AM alarm clock. We have no idea why she was up so early, but it was tough. The campground was super busy and loud the night before so we knew it may turn in to a rough day for the family. Taylor cooked us breakfast and we got ready for our morning hike.
We hiked up to the top of Enchanted Rock. We had borrowed a hiking pack for her and she loved riding in it! She actually napped for a short 10 minuted until we were back at our site. The poor thing was exhausted, but wanted to look and watch everything. By this time in our day it had gotten pretty warm out and she was not going to nap in the tent. We made a parental decision that we were going to head home later in the afternoon because Addy was on the verge of meltdown central since she was so tired. We ate lunch, packed everything up and did one last short hike before we left.
We had a great time on our short trip. We can’t wait for our camping adventures this summer!
Here’s some last scenery pictures!
A few weeks back when we had visitors we headed to Stewart Beach in Galveston for the day. We had a perfect sunny day at the beach and only had a bit of a hick-up on our return trip home(a flat tire!)
Addy loved playing in the sand, she quickly put Nana and Uncle Dave to work. The boys loved playing in ocean waves and entertaining Addy in the sand.
After packing up on the beach we were going to head to the historic district to get some ice cream, but returned to a completely flat tire on my Dad’s truck. After not being able to release the spare tire from under the truck, no one wanting to help us because we were on sand, an unrepairable tire, and no tires available on the island in the size we needed we eventually able to get the truck off the sand by Phil’s smart thinking of putting air back into the tire, putting it back on and hopefully lasting until we could get out of the beach parking lot and on to a real road. After only 3-4 hour delay we were back home, but sans our ice cream treats!
It’s hard to believe that our sweet Adelaide turned 18 months this past week. Time is sure flying!
She is always on the go and loves exploring indoors and outside. Addy loves any activities that involve water. “Cooking” with water in the kitchen, playing in the yard with her kiddie pool, and bath time are some favorite water activities, she’s going to love when our neighborhood pool and splash pad open! Now that the weather is warmer she loves playing outdoors. She plays with bubbles, takes her baby for a walk, checks on the garden and plays with her balls. Addy still loves gymnastics class and now can do a forward roll by herself(which she does all around the house!) and is on the verge of jumping on her own.
She has developed a very friendly and loving personality, always smiling and waving to others. She loves to give hugs and kisses. At the grocery store she tries waving at everyone and loves getting waves and smiles back. She’s a charmer!
Addy is still working on talking. She says a small handful of words and babbles all day long, but I can only understand a few words. I’m sure shortly she’ll be talking nonstop.
Last week, Addy, my mom, Uncle Dave and I headed to Fredericksburg, TX to visit and aunt for an adventure. While traveling home I spotted the perfect place for Addy’s 18 month photos, a Bluebonnet field! Bluebonnet’s are the Texas state flower, which also helped mark our first year in the state! I hope you enjoy!
She loved taking time to smell the flowers!
Last Sunday we enjoyed celebrating Easter around the house with special visitors! Nana and Uncle Dave arrived last Friday, plus, Uncle Ryan(who just moved to Houston) and Erin(and Sadie the dog) came over for dinner.
Addy woke up one lucky girl as the Easter bunny left her way too much! She was thrilled! She loved her bubbles, books, stickers, coloring supplies, new hat and t-shirts.
After breakfast we headed outdoors to color some eggs. While timid at first, Addy quickly became engrossed in the process and was all about it. She liked telling us when the eggs need to be rotated and she even did it some times!
Later in the day, she had a pool day in the backyard with Nana. She wished Nana would have sat in the water with her, but she loved playing non the less.
In the evening, we enjoyed a great dinner of ham, turkey, broccoli, carrots, cheesy potatoes, salad and Aunt Lucy bread. We had a lamb cake, ice cream and lemon bars for dessert.
Before dark, the Easter bunny hid some eggs in our backyard. Addy was not sure of the whole thing until she realized their was candy inside the eggs, she was all about it then! All the grandparents got to participate in the hunt as Nana followed her facetimeing with Grumpy and Taylor with his parents.
