Hilton Head: Part Two

On our vacation in Hilton Head we spent a lot of time playing in the water and we loved every minute of it! We spent most of the time in the pool playing and relaxing, but we did manage to venture to the ocean also. Addy was eager to play in the waves. They were much smaller than when we were in Nantucket. She loved walking out into them and thought it was hilarious when they would get her really wet or knock her over.

Hilton Head: Part One

In August, Addy, Taylor and I packed our bags and took off to Hilton Head, South Carolina for a vacation with our friends from college. We had a blast catching up our friends and introducing Addy to them. There were 13 adults and 3 little ones that rented a house in the Sea Pines Resort in Hilton Head. The house was a short walk from the beach,  Salty Dog Cafe, and we had a great pool in the back yard. Addy loved every minute of being around so many people and especially loved all the playing in the water we did.

Here are a few house pictures.HiltonHead-141 HiltonHead-142 HiltonHead-143We flew from Houston to Charleston, SC and then drove 2 hours to get to Hilton Head. This little monster was happy to finally be at the house.
HiltonHead-144This trip was planned to celebrate our 30th birthdays. Our friend Paige had these fun koozies made. You can check out her recap of our vacation here.

Paige, Addy and I took a short walk exploring the area one morning. We walked to some of the t-shirt shops near Salty Dog and the beach. HiltonHead-124HiltonHead-122HiltonHead-116 HiltonHead-119While  back at the house there was a lot of this going on….planning for golf  for the day and working!HiltonHead-150 HiltonHead-151 HiltonHead-154

One morning of our trip, Paige, Addy and I went on an adventure to the Sea Pines Forest Preserve for a hike. We ended up walking more than we thought, but we had a lot of fun!

One morning we headed to the local Farmer’s Market in Sea Pines. There were a lot of unique stalls selling different crafts and a few produce vendors. We purchased some corn for dinner, a delicious tomato pie and browsed around. HiltonHead-109 HiltonHead-110 HiltonHead-111 HiltonHead-112 HiltonHead-113One afternoon we ventured out to Harbortown located within the resort. The light house is located there along with a few stores and restaurants.

In the evenings we spent time playing cards and doing puzzles. I loved playing Euchre and we have some real intense puzzlers in the group. HiltonHead-84 HiltonHead-85 HiltonHead-86 HiltonHead-87Up next week, I’ll share all of the fun we had playing in the pool and ocean!

A Visit to New Jersey

After our few days in Indiana, Addy and I headed to the airport and headed east again for a weekend in New Jersey for a family wedding celebration. Taylor met us at the airport and Addy was thrilled to see her Daddy!

We stayed near Denville, NJ where Taylor’s Aunt and Uncle live. It was a super busy weekend and Addy loved meeting her Aunts, Uncles, and cousins for the first time. We ate way too much food and loved seeing everyone!

Denville is a super cute town. On Saturday morning we walked around the downtown shopping area and a cute creek near by. We then grabbed some lunch then headed back to the hotel to get ready for the party later in the day.

Addy had the time of her life at the wedding picnic! She ate, danced and ate some more. Her grandpa hogged her most of the evening, but she loved every minute it.  She was treated to cookies and ice cream and they danced the evening away, she was all smiles.

Addy: 11 Months

It’s hard to believe that September is already here and in just one short month we will be celebrating Addy’s first birthday. I’m in denial that she is turning one, maybe because that means I’m also turning a year older. It seems like this last year has flown by!

It has been amazing how much she has grown and learned over the course of this last month, she continues to amaze us. She’s walking everywhere and getting into everything. As you will see from some of the pictures, she has some favorite toys. She’s chattering a lot more throughout the day, but no words that we can pick up. She’s got 8 teeth, a bit more hair on top, weighs about 20 pounds, and is about 29 inches long.  Here’s some snapshots over the course of the last month!

We had a hot spell in August and the neighborhood pool was so hot it wasn’t even refreshing. We put the house out and bought a small baby pool, needless to say, Addy loved it.
