Nantucket 2015: Part One

We had a blast on this year’s Nantucket vacation! We did a little bit of everything, had great weather and even better company! Addy loved every minute of being with family. Her is the first part of our Nantucket adventure. I took over 2,000 pictures in Nantucket alone so these are just a brief glimpse into our trip. I’ll be sharing more next week. Enjoy!

Taylor let us enjoy his first class upgrade! Addy loved the extra room to wriggle. A lot has changed since we flew with her in March. She wanted to wiggle and move a heck of a lot more. We flew Houston to Newark with  small layover until we headed to Nantucket.

Addy loved seeing grandparents, her aunt, uncle, cousins and friends on this trip. She was having the time of her life with all the attention.

We had great weather and spent most of the time at the beach. Addy did not know what to make of the sand at first. It took some time to get used to. Our first day at the beach, after getting comfortable, she quickly started to devour the sand. Handfuls were going into her mouth. Luckily, she quickly learned that wasn’t the best idea and by the end of the week eating sand was no longer the cool thing to do.

We spend a lot of time hanging out around the house. We eat, drink, play and relax!

“Old Mill” is the oldest functioning mill in the country. It was built in 1746 and is always a fun quick stop on vacation.

While on Nantucket, Addy had her first ever ice cream experience at the Juice Bar. She loved it! Unfortunately for me, she ate most of it. Our favorite flavor was Crantucket, vanilla ice cream with chocolate covered cranberries and chocolate chunks. It was delicious. We did visit the juice bar several time!

While in Nantucket, Taylor and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary. Our little one had us up nice and early and we all cuddled in bed. Later in the evening everybody helped watch Addy while Taylor and I had our first date night out since Addy was born. We headed to the Strait Wharf restaurant for a delicious meal fancy meal. Taylor had a great looking steak and I ventured out of my comfort zone and had scallops. Our meals were both delicious and the restaurant was perfect. Sorry no pictures, we just enjoyed each other! After dinner we walked around a bit then ventured home for a low key evening.

Lots more to share about our trip next week, stay tuned!

Eek!

We’ve got a bit of a delay in our vacation recaps. Sorry! Our computer stopped working this past Monday as I was starting to process all of our vacation photos. I was able to take it in yesterday to get looked at. Good news is that it is fixed and didn’t cost us anything. Bad news is that we lost everything on it. I store all of our pictures on an external hard drive, but nothing else. Lesson learned= back everything up!

I’ve taken close to 2,000 photos the last three weeks. I’ve got a lot of editing to do, but I can’t wait to share. Hopefully in the next few days I will have a recap of the first half of our Nantucket vacation.

We’re still here!

We’ve been on the go for the last 20 days and I haven’t had much time for updates. We have had amazing times in Nantucket, Door County, Northwest Indiana and a day trip to Indianapolis. This morning Addy and I are off to the airport to meet Taylor in New Jersey for a family wedding. Addy can’t wait to see her dad after  two weeks apart!
Here are a few quick iPhone photos until I can get our trip recaps up on the blog!

Happy 3rd Anniversary!

This past Tuesday we celebrated our 3rd Anniversary! It feels like we were just married yesterday on a hot 104 degree day on Purdue’s campus.

Addy: 9 Months

Addy 9 Months-71Can you believe our little firecracker is 9 months old?!? It has been an exciting month around here as Addy has been learning so many new things and is always on the go! This post contains lots of Addy pictures from the last month plus the pictures I took for her 9 Month photos.

Addy crawls around pretty quickly now. While her preferred method is still the army crawl, she recently started to get up on all fours and crawl a bit. She can go from her tummy to sitting up on her own and can also pull her self up to standing from the floor to the couch or us. Her favorite activity is walking, assisted by us, scooting along the couch or practicing using one of her new toys.

Watching her personality and interests develop has been fun to watch. I see resemblances of both Taylor and myself in her daily. She studies and examines things like her father the engineer and is picking up on my social and friendliness attributes and unfortunately my grumpiness when she gets hungry. Her favorite toys lately have been books, stacking cups, shape blocks, her new trike, and elephant push toy. Addy 9 Months-34 Addy 9 Months-29Addy 9 Months-4Addy 9 Months-3IMG_0625Addy 9 Months-1Addy 9 Months-2IMG_0543

She still loves our pool and splash pad. We try and go as often as we can, usually in the late afternoon when the area is shaded. One weekend our neighborhood hosted a party that they offered free snow cones. Addy loved her non flavored version, it helped with the teething!Addy 9 Months-7 Addy 9 Months-10 Addy 9 Months-11 Addy 9 Months-15 Addy 9 Months-16 Addy 9 Months-18 Addy 9 Months-22 Addy 9 Months-25

Addy now has 5 teeth with the 6th tooth just about ready to pop through the gums. Her smile is pretty adorable as you’ll see in some of the pictures below. She had her 9 month check up yesterday and weighed in at 18 pounds and was 28 inches long. The doctor said everything looks great and she’s hitting all of her milestones.

Addy continues to amaze us with her eating abilities. She loves all food, but her favorite this past month has been blueberries. I’m surprised she hasn’t turned into one! They are the first thing she eats off her tray and is always delighted when she is offered more.

Our little family is about to embark on whirlwind vacations. We are looking forward to spending time with family and friends, visiting some of favorite vacation destination, and spending time in the outdoors. Addy is thrilled and looking forward to meeting family and friends along our way. I’m thrilled for the abundance of babysitters that will be around, to have some dive in to some photography research and practice and to hopefully read a book or two!   In the next 5 weeks, Addy will be gone for all but 5 days and we will be taking 9 flights in total. Thankfully, only one of those segments is on our own. Taylor will be joining us for bits and pieces of our travels. We very excited for our summer adventures and hope to escape from the Texas summer heat as best as we can.  I’ll try to update the blog when I can, but I know part of our trip internet connectivity will be an issue. I can’t wait to share our adventures with you when we return!
