Maldives: Part One

Taylor and I are just returned from a fabulous trip to the Maldives. We named this trip the “Babymoon” as it was our last travel opportunity before our little girl arrives at the end of September. We left Singapore last Wednesday morning and returned on Sunday evening. It was the perfect getaway and truly a once in a lifetime experience. The Maldives is the smallest country(population and land mass) located in Asia. It is comprised of many islands and atolls south west of India in the Indian Ocean. We took a 4.5 hour flight from Singapore to Male, the a short 1 hour flight south on a prop plane, and the boarded a boat for a 45 minute ride to our hotel. While traveling to get to our place took some time, it was well worth it! In this week’s post I’ll share about our resort and next week some of our activities that we did.

We were very fortunate to be able to use hotel points to cover a large portion of our accommodation cost. We stayed at the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa in an over water villa. We figured we would never have an opportunity to stay in an over water villa again, so why the heck not do it now! Taylor requested the outermost villa and it was wonderful. Each night we sat on our porch to watch the sunset with an unblocked view. It was truly an amazing experience peering over your deck and seeing the fish and coral beneath you!
